  1. Hi Michael, shining a torch down the cylinder I could actually see a fine scratch running down the bore and also what look like possible wear in one area of the bore which the master cylinder, brake specialists confirmed. The new sleeve I'm guessing is stainless but I forgot to ask and guessing the original bore would've been just aluminium and if that's the case it should never need re-sleeving. But I guess you should never say never right🤣
  2. Here's a photo of the new piston and showing the re-sleeve master cylinder.
  3. Hi Mike and I eventually got the new piston and o-rings which were the correct size 😁 I had to get the master cylinder re-sleeve as it had a bit of wear in the bore. Apparently not a easy job re-sleeving a composite master cylinder. I've got it back together and now I have brakes, it was getting tiring hanging my leg out to brake and not to mention the wear on my Lowa shoes.
  4. I got a email last night from Flylight saying they have worked out the o-rings I need and I've paid the invoice, so hopefully I'll have them in about 1-2 weeks plus a spare set. I guess since the new mob took over (Flylight) in 2017 I think they've made a few changes on the Skyrangers and then having to supply parts on the earlier French built planes and the changes they made over time must be a slight headache for them . Anyway hopefully be back flying in a few weeks and thanks everyone for their input. Cheers Guy.
  5. Hi Mike and the brake unit looks to be made of of some sort of composite so I'm not sure if there's enough thickness in the existing sleeve to be able to releeve it, but on saying that in the next few days I'm going to take it into a brake reconditioned specialist that I gotten to know and he'll be able to answer that with a yes or no. Also just out of interest going either up or down in dia. effects the braking and the effort needed on the handbrake. Both have there pluses and minus apparently and I haven't got my head around that one yet. But if the thickness is there in the bore to bore it out to 14mm or sleeve to the 12.6mm I'll have to make a choice.
  6. Thanks Skppydiesel and I might just do that yet...
  7. Hi Michael (spitfire) and I'll send you a message with my number.. Flylight sent me the same photo and said the o-rings for that unit measures 12.6mm. I measure the bore and mine measures 13mm so 12.6mm wouldn't suit ofcause. I've sent them some photos of the brake unit and it has aeroparts imprinted on the side which I post here and the bore size so hopefully they be able to work it out. Mother option is to get a new piston machine and rebore the master cylinder to suit o-rings that are ready available here... I believe 14mm is a common size here. I know I can get the cup o-ring to suit a 9/16 bore also but I would have to change from hydraulic oil to a mineral oil plus swap the o-rings in the brake callipers to suit mineral oil which is not a drama as they are readily available here. The easiest option would be to get the right o-rings off Flylight plus a spare set but it could be a long process.
  8. Hi everyone, I've recently installed a new undercarriage on a Skyranger and in doing so I had to replace all of the pushlock hose fittings on the braking system as the originals started minor leaking when trying to bleed the brakes... Anyway I got that sorted. But the seals in the master cylinder won't hold pressure so they need replacing, one's a square o-ring and one cup type O-ring which is a odd size and you can't buy anywhere in Oz... dealing with the Skyranger mob in England and them being a little slow returning emails is a little frustrating and I heard it just a case of them being very busy, but we're going thru the motions in working out what type I have to workout which seals I need... I just wonder if possible can you fit a handbrake system which on the Skyranger goes on the joystick that's used on motorbikes, 4wd buggy etc.. the only difference is the resoviour on a bike is flat ways and not upright like it would be on the joystick, but being a sealed unit I wouldn't think that would matter ? So just wondering if anyone if anyone has used a braking system that was originally designed for bikes, buggies. Just out of interest a new original handbrake is about $800
  9. Hi Mike and there was something similar on the box but I'm pretty sure it didn't have aircraft parts on the docket but just my address and Flylight address. But I can't be certain and I may have missed seeing that part and I can't check, thinking I didn't need that docket I burnt it with the box. Buggar. On seconds thoughts I may have kept the docket and it on the bench at the hanger.I remember looking at it debating whether to keep it or not... I'll have a look tomorrow and let u know either way.
  10. Thanks again and I can't see myself importing anything in the near future but you never know I guess. Apart from a few small items sent from Spruce USA this is the first biggish item I've ever imported except for the 2 Eprops but that was done through Mark.
  11. I'm guessing it wasn't clearly label or a case of unlucky and if I can't get the Import Duty tax back I won't lose any sleep over it but it's worth a shot.
  12. Many thanks one-track and the link is what I needed and found the required refund form to fill out.. I had a look yesterday on the Customs website and I had trouble finding what I needed, I've never been good navigating around some government websites and at times can do my head it 😊 I also found out I need to email Flylight for a written Parts Manufacturer authority licence number and adding that to the receipt which shows the itemising parts list so should be enough to get blood out of stone maybe. Cheers Guy.
  13. Having just received my 600kg upgrade kit from Flylight UK for my Nynja, I texted Mike if he could send me some close up photos of how he manage to lift the plane without having to take the wings off to replace the existing undercarriage to a stronger version. He said he would post some photos on here for anyone interested and just wanted to say thanks for doing so mate, much appreciated 😀
  14. Hi everyone, I'm just looking for a bit of advice after receiving plane parts (600kg upgrade kit) for a Skyranger Nynja. The kit was sent from England and on arrival into the country, I received a bill for Import Duty tax of $759.90. I paid not knowing any better and was told afterwards that you don't have to pay import tax on plane parts... So if that’s the case does anyone know how to go about getting a refund and what's need to show ? This is the kit picture. Cheers Guy.
  15. Thanks 80kts but there's a huge shortage of hangerage space in our local area and finding something out of flood reach is near impossible. There is talk of a plan to relocate the hangers to higher ground on the west side of the Lismore strip but guessing that will be a case of pushing shit uphill as most councils are broke.
