  1. If I could delete this ridiculous off topic thread, I would.. Instead of helping someone with a simple question, it has been turned into a rubbish talk over 1 simple word, certificate? licence ? really?!?! who cares! To the few that tried to help by answering on topic... THANK YOU. To those that continued to fill this thread with rubbish.. THANK YOU (for nothing) Hope you all have a nice day
  2. Hi Fairly new to the area and wondering if anyone private hires aircraft out of any areas around Rockhampton (yeppoon, emu park, hedlow, etc..) I know there is RAA private hire from the Rockhampton airport, however the restrictions with this due to controlled airspace takes away passenger carrying, medical required, etc.. I have my RA licence with HF HP NW R PAX. ~70 hours mixed GA and RAA Looking to jump in an aircraft often to stay current and proficient. If anyone knows of anyone offering private hire in these areas or someone with a aircraft that may considering it after a few check flights, Would love to hear from you. Thanks guys!
  3. Hi Thinking about a trip to the US, To see some sights, but mainly to see EAA Airventure. My questions.. Is it worth making the trip to see it? Anyone here been? Anyone here going this year ? or thinking about it? Obviously it is everything aviation, my main interest is the light sport part. To those that have been.. how many days should I plan to go for to get the most out of it? Anything else I should be considering or looking at ? Thanks!
  4. In that situation, I would of chose the highway too, fairly light traffic in that direction - you won't find too many people that won't slam on their brakes if they see a low plane fly over their head on a highway, this will then create a nice clear runway as the cars behind you create a road block from braking - just hope that you don't catch up to the ones in front - pretty sure they WON'T brake if they see a aeroplane in the rearview mirror For the price of in-car cameras or in car DVR's - I wish more people would fly with these more often, especially solo flights, so in situations like this one, we can all learn from someone else's experience in a emergancy. may also help a investigation if things don't end well.
  5. Im also in Cairns, was looking for the same sort of thing, private hire of a RA aircraft. But I have to convert my GA hours into RA first.
  6. Im in Cairns, north QLD. Looking at converting some GA experience into a RA licence. Is there many people up here offering training? Would also be interested in speaking to anyone who is building a aircraft? thanks.
  7. Hi After researching quite a few kits, I have allot of interest in the Zenith ZODIAC CH 650 or Zenith STOL CH 701. Does anyone here have either of these? built one? flown one or in one? how many are flying in AUS? Please share your experiences with all aspects of either aircraft. First build, so I'm thinking of starting with a small component and working my way through the others over time. thanks.
  8. what sort of aircraft are you currently building. costs? some of the zenith aircraft seem like a good kit. but would like to explore every option..
  9. cost, maybe up to 20,000 + engine? Would probably like a STOL aircraft, but something that could still has a bit of speed and range. As I said above, the ability to add floats at a later stage is a factor. so I guess this would mean a HIGH wing would be more ideal for what I'm looking for? How rigid and safe are ALL metal aircraft (i.e. sheet metal ribs covered in sheet metal) as opposed to metal tube frame with sheet metal skin ? Oh, and I guess something that looks good too would be a bonus, but probably not a huge priority
  10. Hi Looking at building a first aircraft, Can anyone tell me some RA aircraft that can be built in components/sections. Time is not a factor, I have plenty of time and in no hurry.. However, I would like to spread the cost out over time, building in sections, with the engine and instruments the last purchase. A very very small factor in my decision would be the ability to add floats at a later stage, possible? If anyone has built or currently building, please share your experiences including how they fly.
  11. Hi, new here and have a few questions I recently decided to get back into flying In approx 2006/2007 I stopped flying GA due to being relocated with work and a number of other reasons. I had achieved/passed GA GFPT with about 12 hours solo and done about 4 navs (basically ready to sit PPL THEORY exam) My goal is to eventually buy my own aircraft, hence why I am considering RA. A few questions I have are.. How much of my above experience counts towards a RA licence? Even though it has been 5 years? What sort of training do I need to get a RA licence given this experience? Does a RA licence cover weight shift micro light trikes? Or do I need a HGFA certificate? I may consider the purchase of a microlight, so this adds another factor to think about Basically I am trying to decide.. Go get a RA licence or go back and finish GA PPL?! Thanks.
