Hangared at Montpelier airpark, Born : Clermont, central Qld. Grew up in Townsville NQld.
Ex-Skydiver from the 70s with 1300+ skydives and over 24 hours of free-fall time logged. APF D license D312. Flying ULs since 1984 after learning in Northern California at Liberty Field Airpark Petaluma CA. Holds USUA (United States Ultralight Assoc) license # A001440 and AUF/RAA Lic # 010233. Trained originally in an Eipper MXL2....soloed in a Quicksilver GT400. Longterm member of the EAA...attended Oshkosh first time in 1987. Undertook two years full-time training at Oakland North field Airport CA to train for, and recieve in 1993 an FAA Airframe and Powerplant license (A&P # 61918 6857 ..renewed 2010 ) and at the same time worked for the United Parcel Service (UPS) at Oakland International Airport. Received an unrestricted PPL with N/VFR in California flying C152,C172 and Piper aircraft at San Carlos Airport south of San Francisco, whilst working as an A&P Mechanic with Trans Bay Airlines, also at San carlos Airport. Is an unrestricted Level 2 maintainer, and works for Air Whitsunday Seaplanes as an AME at Shute Harbour Airport in the Whitsundays, plus engages in other private contracted jobs in the GA industry. Active pilot with extensive Drifter time, plus over 25 other UL types and counting. Also has Twin-engine Ultralight time, gained in California and Nevada in a Canadian Lazair aircraft..Currently flys a 912uls Lightwing Heliview 25-3370. Six years RAAF experience at Williamtown and Richmond NSW with 486 Sqn C-130 Hercules, and with 77Sqn Mirages as a Safety Equipment Technician. Recieved the Australian Service medal. Back-seat time in Mirage 111D (dual) A3-112 'Dulcie the Dual'....Also attended the Army Parachute training school at Williamtown, qualifying for and recieving the Australian Army paratrooper wings. Extensive experience with airframe and engine maintenance on many different types, plus test flying and ferry piloting. Holds FAA level 2 ICAO certificates in advanced composite structures, and advanced non- destructive testing (NDT). Experience with Piston, Radial and turbine engines and aircraft, and amphibious aircraft.
Current RAAus Board rep for the NQld area. Currently editing 'Diary of Jack Flyer' for author Tim Heylbut. Married with one daughter (20 yrs)
