As Ian announced, I have put my head on the block and agreed to populate the new Aircraft section. The first entry prepared in the setup and test run is now available. I would appreciate any comments regarding format and content. Thanks guys and gals.

My intention is to create a profile for each aircraft model, starting with those of which I have a photo taken by me. This will avoid any copyright problems. I have over 1100 photos on another site, not that all will be used, so that should take me quite a while. Researching the data from manufacturers websites, aircraft registries, Wikipedia, etc. will be quite time consuming.

Is this a "for sale" aircraft section, or "My favorite aircraft"

No, Space. When Ian decided to revamp the site, he planned to include a reference section for aircraft. He asked me if I would put the list together. It's going to be a huge task as there are thousands of aircraft to profile. No identification of owner will be listed, just the photo. I could use photos from overseas from other websites, but that requires obtaining permission and possibly being asked for a fee under copyright. Easier to use my own or get permission from members of this forum who have posted media here.

When more aircraft are added, they appear at the top of the list. As the list grows, locating an aircraft will become more difficult. To list the aircraft in alphabetic order, set the filters as shown below.

Click the filters arrow to display dropdown menu.

Use the up/down arrows in the 'Sort by:' section to choose Title and Ascending as shown.

Click the Filter button to activate the filter.

Is it a H5? I have the specifications, but no photo (which is copyright free). If you have a good photo you can send me, I'll add it. You need 1st Class membership to add, and at least one photo is mandatory. I'll PM my email address.

No aircraft being added for a few days. We are refining the layout of the page and adding a few more specs and performance details.

Surprisingly not all details are available for all aircraft, even on the manufacturers website. Where a field detail is not available, that field label will not be displayed. This can be updated later. So you will see some items listed for some aircraft, but not for others.

As stated previously, I will be adding aircraft of which I have photos I have taken myself at various airshows or airfields I have visited, before I start seeking permission for use from other photographers, Having contributed to a number of websites and forums, I know that photographers get quite irate at their work being used without permission or payment of a fee, I don't want Ian or the site getting sued for breach of copyright. This may mean that it might be quite some time till I get to your favorite aircraft. Currently, I have asked Ian to make a couple of changes, including adding extra fields, which will mean going back and updating the listings already loaded. I don't wish to add more until these changes are complete. I appreciate your patience.

That will come, I know everyone wants their own/favorite covered, and that will come, but I can only do one at a time, and this is in my spare time - I'm not doing it full time.

I've added a few more - still have a few of my own photos to go before moving on the GA and other categories. There are still a couple of changes which Ian has to investigate and attend to, but in the meantime, how do you feel about the way the showcase is progressing. I will also PM some members for photos of their aircraft if they are happy to have them included, particularly those aircraft I have not been able to photograph myself.

Just as a rough guide for RAA aircraft you can buy new here in aus / nz can you put a ball park number on the cost of RAA kit or built aircraft available. The RAA aircraft agents here in AUS should have no problems (I guess) to supply basic cost to fly away and or hours to build as a kit? Like jab do on the website for example. But not all do.

I will have to refer this to Ian. A couple of fields may need to be added to the template. It is surprising how many specifications and performance criteria are NOT listed on manufacturers websites. eg. Takeoff and landing distance, vne, etc. Some data is gleaned from overseas websites, and a lot from Wikipedia.

Hi Red, Are we able to submit you our own photos, with appropriate release documents, for possible inclusion?

Arron25, I tried to send a PM with my email details, but the system blocked me. If you want to upload your Foxcon photos to the Media section, I can retrieve them from there
