Why do they add the word "Exercise" if it is not a legitimate reason to be doing it.

because exercise is your stand up paddle boards and kayaks

and you can go out to catch fish for your dinner and come straight back home again.

Recreational boating for leisure is not allowed at the moment.

Allowed in NSW, but not QLD. Especially in the lead up to Easter.

I did see a directive from the Qld Chief Medical Officer where he stated that riding motorcycles was a form of exercise and that fishing was a form of passive exercise, and as such both were permissible under the current regulations. Social distancing still to be adhered to at all times. I can't find it atm, but I have seen them both. I wonder if recreational flying could come under the same rules. Either way under social distancing I would translate that to mean only 1 person permitted in a recreational aircraft.

Turbo I do not like your post. A directive to permanently cease all forms of private aviation would save lives however the participants should know the risks and how to mitigate them. The buck stops with the Pilot In Command.

I made a mistake; one person died, the other was injured.

If the aircraft is parked and locked in a hangar, and the pilot is at home, there is no Pilot in Command.

In this case a State of Emergency was enacted in Queensland.

That triggered new Powers for certain people including the Chief Health Officer.

The Qld Chief Health Officer made a Direction (Stage 3) that no one was to leave their house, with 14 exceptions.

The purpose of the Direction was to ensure minimum person to person contact and breathing transfer of the virus and minimum infection from areas frequented by people who may be positive.

The intent was a partial lockdown, still allowing people to go to work, emergemcy services to operate, schools to operate etc, to avoid the much higher cost of total lockdown (Stage 4).

The a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,i,j,k,l,m,n show you what you can do.

Flying for work (Commercial) would still operate to CASA legislation - The Health intent is for people who can work to work.

So far the general compliance with Stage 3 has been good to the extent that we may not have to go to Stage 4, but there is this leakage in Stage 3 coming mostly from recreational activities using the Dorothy Dix questions.

I think that was in the Stage 2 Direction which only lasted about a week. When a new Direction is issued by the Chielf Health officer, the old one is rescinded.

The document has two dates at the bottom, and I haven’t been able to see just what it is that they’ve changed. What I have seen between that and more recent documents, is that generally they have expanded on what is permissible.

You need to understand that I agree that the letter of the law says stay at home, but the the minister has gone and made exceptions would suggest that solo flying would be within the intent of the law. Yes, I understand that one may end up testing that.

That said, your comment about people dying in a plane crash because the broke the corona laws, while technically correct, is utter rubbish.

The two date at the bottom are logical; one is the date of issue, and the lower and later one on which the changes to the original were made.

It was not the Minister who made exceptions, the wording was Minister's Office, so it may not have been authorised by the Minister and was removed. They completelt deleted the Sated 2 details to save confusion, and probably more Dorothy Dox questions.

Solo wasn't within any intent of any law; this is a Direction.

If the two people had adhered to the Stage 3 Direction, they wouldn't have left home, so the pilot would be alive and the passenger would not have been injured. That was not the cause of the crash, and not what killed the pilot, but is certainly relevent to the crash.

Suicide-related, to get the metabolism going, but they should have specified a few, although if they did all the questions would still start.

You know nothing about this crash, you don't even know what kind of aircraft it is.

Was it a training flight or was it a prospective buyer or any other type of commercial activity.

All legal reasons for flying even under your interpretation of the directive.

All States are ramping up their on the spot fines now

Victoria

On Monday, a 17-year-old learner driver with her mother in the passenger seat was pulled over by police and issued with a $1,652 fine.

"We hadn't gotten out of the car, we weren't planning on getting out, we were just doing a loop around and coming home," Hunter Reynolds said.

"I was under the limit, had my L-plates on, so I was really surprised."

A police spokesperson said Assistant Commissioner Bob Hill was "following up the circumstances surrounding the incident".

"AC Hill will review the matter and see whether discretion could have been used in this instance," the spokesperson said.

But when Victorian Health Minister Jenny Mikakos was asked about it at a press conference, she said driving lessons were not essential.

"There are only four good reasons to leave home and that doesn't include taking your child on a driver learning experience," she said.

"Unless you're driving to the supermarket with them to pick up your weekly groceries, you should be staying at home.

What is it about people not understanding the basic term, "essential movement only"? If you're going to have a flutter around the sky with no essential need to do so, that is against all current, virus-control directives.

Here on the Left Coast the State Govt has stopped "non-essential" movement between W.A. regions. You cannot go for a drive just to look at the scenery, you must have documentation outlining your NEED to carry out movement between W.A. regional boundaries, and you must be compliant with the 15 reasons that allow movement between regions. The Police have roadblocks in place and they take everyones number plate, and ask every driver the purpose of their trip.

Without that "rollerdoor" opened I would still be outside,

But I could close it once inside, Though I like the Breeze from my two pot motor to blow the cobwebs and dust out of the adjacent Roller door, ( have a "Mullion " separating the two ).

Gives a large opening of 22 feet or 6.7056 French metres.

Huge amount of dust is exhaled by my little Bird. LoL.

Stage 3 has been in effect since last Monday (29MAR19), the details in the ABC article were well after stage 3 was implemented, so I'm not sure what point you are trying to make.

Even the document you have linked was published was published on 02APR, but updated on 05APR, and the changed must have been quite minor, because I can't pick a difference between the two. The previous documents were completely different.

The minister's office has made no corrections to the article in regards to saying it was ok to go for a solo motorcycle ride, and if that stands, it would be quite reasonable to expect that a solo flight would also be acceptable, even a dual flight if both occupants reside in the same household. I don't see that anyone has broken rules here, there is still a reasonable amount of private flying happening, and if it was an issue at this stage, one might expect that it would be mentioned specifically.

Now that we know cats and dogs can spread the virus it will just keep going on and on and on.....

“...The only thing that stops it is herd immunity...”

“...Professor Knut Wittkowski, for twenty years head of The Rockefeller University's Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Research Design, says that social distancing and lockdown is the absolutely worst way to deal with an airborne respiratory virus.

Further, he offers data to show that China and South Korea had already reached their peak number of cases when they instituted their containment measures. In other words, nature had already achieved, or nearly achieved, herd immunity..

..Professor Wittkowski urges that the schools be open now, so that the virus may spread harmlessly among the young, and thus shorten the amount of time the elderly and immune compromised must be sequestered.

Our current course, he warns, will only prolong the crisis and likely guarantee a second wave of infections...”

Just so everybody knows the facts:

In Queensland, the Chief Health Officer's Direction took effect at 11:59 on April 2 2020. and is still in force. Changes, which may have included other documents/deleted other documents, or may have included different data or wording have been updated to March 5, 2020. This is a live document, so if you want to know the current status, you can use this link and check for any updates.

Queenslanders are supposed to be adhering to this document in its latest update version.

Home Confinement, Movement and Gathering Direction | Queensland Health

When a new driection is issued, it is normal to cancel the previous one, so DO NOT RELY ON MEMORY.

The Coronavirus and its management in Australia has been evolving rapidly, and some documents are only valid for a few days, so learn to expect this.

Yes Turbo , we get that, but you were trying to tell us that the previous document was stage 2, and that stage 3 (on Monday) came in after the article that was published on Thursday.

The ABC Article is about stage 3 home confinement. When you become the QLD health minister, I might start listening.

What I can tell you for fact is that the original issue of the Home confinement directive had fewer exceptions (5), it was then updated to show more (14), and then it was updated with some very minor corrections that I haven't been able to pick, so as often occurs with govt documents, it's likely they were spelling/grammar corrections. They have also changed the site layout, which is bloody annoying, as previously it had a link to the previous directives and you could easily see what had changed, which is what I have been doing.

I don't take my directives from flying forum members.

Directives are issued by the Chief Medical Officer or Chief Health Officer, not by the Minister, and absolutely not by an interview between a Staffer and an ABC reporter, so I can see where you’re coming from.

Looks like the whole running out of ventilators thing is a bust.

There are only about 10 Aus patients currently on ventilators. Lucky we have over 4000 ICU bed's

If you require a ventilator your chance of survival is about 20% so patients don't spend much time on them anyway.

Remind me again what the lock down was for?

The covid-19 scare for the mathematical illiterate.

And if the advice given in the article was incorrect, you could reasonably expect that a correction would have been issued, especially since it is OUR ABC. Not to mention that numerous people are carrying out activities as described in the article without any trouble, except for those not exercising “social distancing “.
