Cessna 182 VH-JOU suffered a power failure on final to Shute harbour Airport late yesterday. Wind was from the North, so approach was from the South over Shute harbour itself. On board were the pilot and his jack Russell dog, Crasher. The pilot did extremly well putting the aircraft onto Shute harbour Road in a windy curve section. Pilot was uninjured. The dog Crasher, on being released from her in-flight cage, bounded off down the road and dissappeared into nearby bush. She was found just on sunset, after an extensive search effort, by many people. Win TV has done extensive coverage on the crash itself, and the resulting search for the wonder dog 'Crasher'. It'll be shown on Win News (probabily Nationally...great 'feel-good' story in their words !) tonight Tuesday.................................Maj...012_thumb_up.gif.cb3bc51429685855e5e23c55d661406e.gif

Windsor, It really was more of a controlled crash than a landing !...there as quite a bit of damage, with the wingtips and nose wheel torn off. But not a lot of road to aim for, and a busy one at that including a regular bus service. Talking to the pilot yesterday, he said had something come around the corner he was just going to put her in the drink !....Actually fairly impressive landing for a 182. I do have some good photos but can't down load before Friday.

Pookemon, About 1 kl back from Shute Harbor there is a corner with a house on it, plane landed heading toward that house. The house is right at the bottom of the powerline trail going up to the top of the hill visable on GE.

Spriteah, pilot stated he suffered a power failure, there was fuel on the ground that the firies had put sawdust on..

Facthunter, 'Crasher" got her name from another 182 crash before Xmas, when another 182 had a bird strike, which smashed the windscreen and put the aircraft into a cane field...'Crasher" your basic airfield dog, was also onboard that time. She's probabily over crashes by now !..She also did a tandem skydive on her 1st birthday, with her owner around Xmas. This is not your average Mini-foxy/ Jack Russel !! 008_roflmao.gif.692a1fa1bc264885482c2a384583e343.gif................Maj...024_cool.gif.7a88a3168ebd868f5549631161e2b369.gif
