Observations, 1.2 hr flight SW Sydney Basin

Recommended Posts

Cold/flue has precluded flight for about 5 weeks - desperate to have a fly, weather wonderful, despite gloomy forecast, so committed aviation this pm.

Just wonderful to be up again, what a privilege.

For a wintry Friday afternoon, seemed to be quite a lot of small aircraft traffic -, got to say not the greatest display of airmanship/communication. Precautionary Search & Landings (PS&L)seemed to be the flavour of the afternoon. Overflying one and joining the circuit of another , I witnessed;

(airfield 1 - two other aircraft in circuit). One aircraft advising he intended to do "airwork ??" over the field, no altitude or direction given, seen shortly after cruising at low (?) level straight down the strip, opposite direction for a landing, then announced cessation of " airwork" and an intention to depart for another airfield - good stuff NOT!.

(airfield 2 - three aircraft in circuit ) One aircraft conducting a PS&L made his his one & only call advising of his intention . He repeated this exercise three times with about the same degree of communication each time - no joining circuit, in circuit position, no runway heading, no advise of departing circuit (end of exercise)

(airfield 2 - three aircraft in circuit ) Another aircraft aircraft advising joining circuit to conduct the same exercise as above, with runway - no further comms, no sight of aircraft , no departure from circuit advice.

Sooo this is how we keep chatter to a minimum - give no information of any worth,
