based in capertee I have a rather nice airfield and house which i would like to share with someone who has some knowledge of repainting a gel coat aircraft. the gel coat is crazed and not sure if i have to take off all the gel coast before repainting? anyone got any ideas. can offer accommodation and a hourly rate for someone who whats to be on a afarm for a few weeks. I also have a old lazair that i would like to convert to electric power anyone got any ideas? i regards to the lack of daily viewers I suspect that flying is a costly and time consuming activity which puts a lot of people off.

Hi Chris,

Good move! Tell us something about yourself........do you fly or hoping to do so? Where? What? etc etc

Cheers,

Neil

Hi Neil

I think I am going through a mid life crisis. I want to fly. I really want to buy my own plane and fly my wife and myself up and down the coast. I live in Yeppoon, Central Queensland. East of Rockhampton.

We fly out of Hedlow field. I hope to buy a Sling 4 or the likes

Mate, I don't know anything at all about fibreglassing but I can tell you that at this stage, if you want a coal fired plane, you will need to load up more batteries than the plane can carry.

Quite frankly, you would be much better off with a diesel engine plane. If you are worried about the environment then 110% you'd be better off with a diesel engine rather than coal power.

Welcome, we need new blood with lots to say! Where are you based, what do you fly, what do you want to fly?

Thanks Derek,

I don't fly anything yet. Still doing the theory and want to get my ticket so I can fly. I am keen on the Sling 4 or Diamond Air retractable.

You would probably know Jeffrey Hoskins with the Brumby?

Hi. I have completed a Sonex and it is nearly ready for a test flight. Just waiting for a new propeller. It has a 80 hp AeroVee motor. I am also halve way through building a Savannah. May be flying at the end of the year. Progress has been going well so far. Both planes are in my hanger at Bridge Pa airport by Hastings.

Welcome all newcomers. Adshedsyd. You didn't say what type of aircraft you want to paint. Most aircraft do not have gel coat so be careful that it is not more serious crazing of the finish plus matrix.
