MGL Xtreme with Sandia Transponder

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

just wondering if anyone out in RectreationalFlyingLand has ever connected a Sandia STX165R transponder to the MGL Xtreme EFIS? The latest firmware upgrade allows the Xtreme to send altitude and position information directly to Sandia's modestly priced Mode C transponder without the need for a separate Altitude encoder. However, the MGL wiring information seems to relate more to their larger EFIS units... does anyone have any further info/experience?

Cheers, Jim (Skyranger 19-8278)

This what I will probably be using myself….I will look into it. I have 2 Xtremes in the aircraft. One for main display the other setup as a EMS but also will act as a backup for either of each other. I have been looking at the Sandia myself as it is a lot cheaper than the rest….the MGL forum would be a good place to start though

I also downloaded this from a guy on the MGL site..it is for the IEFIS. But it looks like the MGL has no control over the altitude encoder which is a good thing maybe just the squawk code
