Certainly did it all himself The first "Taylor" engine was on its side and was down on power and ran too hot . Probably only put out about 16 HP The upright one soon followed. You see it in the clip on all later shots and it put out well over 20 HP and was better cooled and a more conventional engine to our perceptions.

Another incredible Aviation entity and engine builder, at the time was Glen L Curtis, who offered to build an engine for the Wrights at the time but that was rejected as they wanted to stay independent. Eventually the Name, Curtis Wright was on some of the best of US Aviation products ever made .Nev
