Description
Produced in 1971 to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of the RAAF, the book describes the pre-WWl aviation activity in Australia and how that activity lead to the formation of the RAAF from the initial interest of the Government in this new military tool, through the establishment of the Central Flying School to activities in WWl both on the Western Front and the Middle East, not forgetting the initial preparation to use aircraft in the search for German Navy raiders around Papua-New Guinea.
Each aircraft type that saw military service, either in ab initio training, or combat use is described, and where relevant, the service history of the earliest aircraft is given.
