Guest ozzie Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Yes about bloody time and hopefully it will lead onto the transfer back of 19-001 to it's rightful aircraft. The first TST Thruster. 10-001 is a Skycraft Scout. He's the story on it. About 2002 i was searching for a Lazair and had a lead on one in Lightening Ridge. I traveled down from Airlie Beach to recover it and when i got there i found i had to take a pranged Scout as part of the deal. No problems. When i returned i sorted the two machines out and i found a small metalized disc stuck to the fuse. This was the AUF rego disc inscribed with 10-001 rego number. Bingo, a bit of history found. Shortly after this i had to move back to Sydney for family reasons. When i got myself sorted out from this move i contacted my good friend and Scout enthusiast Arthur Walker and arranged for him to take it and return it to airworthy condition. This was done and AUF paper was submitted and sent in with enclosed cheque. There was no reply. Arthur tried several times to get a response. Both by mail and phone. This was during the old boys had the reigns. The rego list of aircraft showed that 10-001 was a Scout but was not active. Also during this time i was helping the late Tony Hayes with the Thruster history and mentioned the Scout story. I was informed that Ex AUF President Muir had placed the 10-001 rego number on his Kestral which is a knockoff copy of the single seat Thruster. Tony also told me that the 19-001 rego number that was allocated to the first certified Thruster had been taken by another AUF exec and placed on his Drifter. GRRRRR. At this point in time rego numbers were issued in a consecutive manner and not reissued. This changed as i pushed harder and rego list was quietly changed to reflect the two new aircraft they had been reissued to. Some here on these forums may remember this story and what it led to. Hopefully history will be set right.

winsor68 Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Reply sent. Hopefully history will be corrected. Are you going to ask for the AUF back too?
Guest ozzie Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Tempted but if i did i'll go FAR103. Then the RAAus will be rid of all those money and time wasting toys and they can play with real aircraft.
