Guest Fred Bear Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Is anyone else observing the wonderful lightning activity in Sydney and Western NSW at the current time? Absolutely fantastic (but then again, I am a storm-head). :) It is approaching from the West at the current time (I am in Western Sydney) and seems to be tracking to the NE. Has to be a few strikes every few seconds. Ian, can we have a weather-section for such discussions as I am sure a few of us are interested. :) Cheers
Guest ozzie Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 http://mirror.bom.gov.au/products/IDR033.shtml sydney wx radar this is a handy site to see what is happening. access to other locations from here as well
Guest Fred Bear Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 http://www.weatherzone.com.au/ Is also a good site. On the free standard membership you get quite a bit of data and the satellite and radar images with lightning overlay are much better than the BOM site. If you are into lightning try this one: http://www.countryenergy.com.au/storm/s_tracker.html And this one: http://www.sphere.net.au/strikestarau/ There is some more info on my home page and weather forums. Enjoy.
Guest David C Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 We missed out again Darren . Had a good display of lightning this morning though , from about 0500 to 0630 and a fair bit of the wet stuff too . Dave
IanR Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 The Oaks got a little bit of rain this morning but missed the rest - but hey we are in the catchment area - it doesn't rain here !!
Guest David C Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 It was a little bit too !! . I was over there most of the morning , no flying happening , worst luck . However , some kind soul has aerated the runway , all we need now is rain , and we should have a nice surface to land on ... Lets not hold our breath though !! . Dave
Guest Fred Bear Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Dave, Did Ross go mad with the tractor again? :ah_oh:
Guest David C Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Yeah .... You've got it Darren ..... Trying to scare the resident Brown snakes away too I think ..... Now theres a big job ... Dave
Admin Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Weather thread Ian??????....;) Darren - is that for Cockpit Talk or Bar Room Chatter?
Guest Fred Bear Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Bar room? Now you are talking ;) Mate, wherever is more appropriate. Maybe a thread titled weather/storms wherever you think is appropriate.I think it would be great for current weather 'events' be it storms etc etc. Cheers and thanks.
