Guest Escadrille Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 Love to go .. but the strip concerns me with one way in to land (18 )and all the others coming out taking off (36) aginst the flow is a trifle concerning :ah_oh:..Is there gonna be some control there?
Spin Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Argh, Huey is playing games again, quite wet down on the 'Coast today, but looks okish up at Woodford, according to BoM. Tomorrow not too promising though.
Tomo Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Called in on the way home - was all fired to take the Echo over - but it started raining at Caboolture. Got to Archer falls (driving), sun was just shining, watched a chap fly his HUGE radio controlled aircraft (smoke an all) was quite spectacular to see. The rain started, and continued for a while - wetting all and sundry. Resorted to the dinning room area for lunch with Bryan and Co (ADFA). Really nice area, if you've never been there before, definitely worth the effort to land/go there - a little intimidating for some, but apparently the strip is really good. Fantastic facilities I thought, really nice little spot - jolly shame the weather wasn't playing the game as well as it could have. The sun was shining again when I left an hour or so later, so not sure what people got up to after that. I then headed for Oakey... and caught the last of that...
Mick Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Just got home from my attempt to get there. Left Bundy in sunshine just before 10am, cloud slowly built as we travelled further south. Got as far as Gympie and visibility dropped to zero with a combination of cloud, showers of rain and smoke. Landed at Gympie at 11.00am under a cloud base of about 1700 ft. Rang a mate already at Archerfalls to be told the weather was not much better there. Stayed at Gympie for a couple of hours and had lunch with a mate then headed back North. Got to Maryborough and stopped for a coke at the aero club before starting the final leg home. Arrived at Bundy basking in sunshine. A good day but dissapointed to not get to the intended destination.
HEON Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 G'day Mick; been hoping to run into you to pick your brain on Kaspar prop. Also tried to get there today but the only thing able to get over the range when I tried were birds...and IFR qualified ones at that! Rearly getting a bit sick of the current weather...new aircraft and unable to get anywhere. If it gets any wetter around here I won't have to put the wheels down at all
Tomo Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Here are a dozen or so photos I quickly got, sorry about the water on the lens -bit hard when it is raining!
Spin Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Thanks Tomo, real shame about the weather - looks like a beautiful place.
Ballpoint 246niner Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Yep guys, weather was boss today- Glad you got there by land Tomo- Leo tried to get the CTMC out there but 600' base was having none of it- only got 2 ccts in my Jab and a half hr TIF - some days are for maintenance- today was one of them!
Cosmick Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Yeah, drove up Yesterday and had a look and a chat and took a few pics but Thomo's are nicer. Was eyeballing the Spit and had a chat with a guy who looked after them during the war. Lovely spot, Ladies had made some fantastic cakes and enjoyed some coffee, again shame about the Weather. Congratulations Mark and Denise on your big day, can't work out though Mark, if your mate was the Best Man - why did she Marry you..................
dazza 38 Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Nice shots Tomo. The weather here, is getting a little bit annoying.
