jetjr Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Australian Flying: CASA releases sport aviation handbook
Guest ozzie Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 http://www.casa.gov.au/wcmswr/_assets/main/pilots/download/sport.pdf lets all have a read of it first.
Spin Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 I wonder how many man-hours were booked to creating that little lot? The majority of the document serves as a fairly generic safety manual and as usual the meat is actually contained in the references, in this case to ISO 2001 standards and to a whole raft of CAO's. The checklist is probably a reasonable inclusion, given that not all the organisations have the level of support and even expertise that RA-Aus have. I didn't see anything particularly new and alarming in it, CASA is obviously out to justify its existence and the organisation takes its tone from the current CEO, who clearly follows a military management style. So it's clearly setting out its objectives and requirements, backed up with the warning that we shouldn't take the exemptions for granted.
skybum Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 What "in the field"auditing process does RAA undertake right now?
Guest ozzie Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 They rock up at your monthly BBQ and drink your beer and eat your food and tell porkies about how good you have it. :)
icebob Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 I must agree with Ozzie here, I have only been a member for a few years and not witness any sort of quality audit/safety audits at all. Oh I have a diploma in Quality management and am currently a registered international quality lead auditor. Bob.

I like the art work i may pinch some of it for T shirt designs ISO standards pop up everywhere now. just shove it around a bit to suit your needs. The APF really lead the way for self administration as they have been at it the longest and are being referred to as the 'industry example' the CASA CEO's speech and pat on the back at the recent APF conference was quite deserving as i've seen first hand the extreme efforts by the APF board to achieve the high standard that other countries skydiving bodies are now copying. sorry but i think that the RAAus have some work in front of it. failure to push 103 and the other changes thru and a few other things that the late great Tony Hayes made me privy to, show there is some hard work ahead for the new CEO and after doing some goggle research on Steve i think he may be the man to put a few things straight and push things thru. Ozzie (preparing to take cover)
