flying dog Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 Recently (well kind of) the BOM put a doppler radar in Sydney. The other day I was driving to the Gong and noticed a new "building" down near..... Appin. Driving down the freeway to the gong from Sutherland and just got down near the bottom of the restricted zone. Someone told me it was the new doppler radar. I don't want to be contentious, but when I go to the BOM site and click radar and look at the map, it says: Sydney (Terry Hills) That is a LONG WAY from Appin. Anyone?
Guest magcheck Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 Australian Bureau Of Meteorology - New South Wales Radar Site Information or Australian Bureau Of Meteorology - New South Wales Radar Site Information and scroll Hope it helps
flying dog Posted August 11, 2010 Author Posted August 11, 2010 Yeah, thanks. It seems strange that from: Bureau of Meteorology: Radar Network The one at APPIN is not shown as doppler. APPIN is only dedicated weather watch.
Smokey Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Someone told me it was the new doppler radar. The one at APPIN is not shown as doppler. Looking at the rain returns from Appin and TH over the last few weeks, the Appin radar certainly does not look like it's a doppler. Is it possible your friend heard that a new doppler radar was going in and assumed it was at Appin whereas in fact it was the one at TH ? (It hasn't been in that long.) I hadn't heard that Appin was getting a doppler but then there's no particular reason why I would. Mark
