We are currently doing an instructor course at RVAC Coldstream with two starters and are about 70% through the ground briefings.

The next one is Wednesday 15 Dec. at 1800-2100. You are welcome to sit in if you wish. This may help you get a better idea what is involved. Contact me via email if you are coming.

LOL your not alone in thinking that it's wildly expensive.

but a lot of prices have shocked me off my seat in aviation. $110 to sit an automated computer exam for PPL and approx $300+ for a testing officer to come fly with me. All up including "buying" the license was around $600. Now I know that it's normal but I was expecting it to be A LOT less!

As they say, the ONLY thing in aviation that is free is the ARN number.

Really? My PPL theory test was free...unless they emptied my account without telling me! 006_laugh.gif.0f7b82c13a0ec29502c5fb56c616f069.gif I have heard of other people having to pay for their PPL theory though...I think I remember someone saying at his school it was $160

I saw a place called True Blue Aviation in Berwick (or near there) that did RA-Aus FI courses, I can't remember the URL at the mo, but I was thinking of contacting them for prices when I get back in Feb. I'm also planning to have a chat to my school and see if they offer anything

You must be to good a'looking Darky to get it free... I had to pay $160 odd quid for my PPL cyber exam.

It's us old blokes that can remember the freebies. Plus the low rates for flying.

When I started they used to fly a Piper from Mackay to Collinsville, give me an hours flying tuition at the current rate of $11 per hour and then fly back to Mackay. I don't think they made much from me. Exams were free, but I had to buy theory lessons from College of Civil Aviation, and now I wish I had kept them all as they were first class.
