Guest Maj Millard Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 Simply hanging fuel-injection and air-cooled heads off an already unreliable engine base, does not a new engine make. The majority of Jab failures originate from internal failures, and this is where they should be making the significent improvements, not by hanging things off them externally for hopefully, a quick fix. If the Jab engine people can't solve their problems, then move aside and let people fit reliable engines to their aircraft. The Rotax twin-carb set up is virtually maintenance free, if set up correctly initially, per the installation manual. Anyone who knows anything about twin carbs should know that the balance tube is the key for eliminating 90% percent of twin carb tuning problems. And the 912s have always had a balance tube. Of course you'll always get the gang who has to tinker for the sake of tinkering on something that needs none . They are usually the one's who spend more time in the hangar than in the air flying. The majority of Rotax carb cable set-up problems are related to the cable set up in the aircraft itself, not as part of the engine / carb installation. The rotax maintenance manual is very clear on carb set-up , adjustment and service for those who can read........................................................................................Maj...
