In amongst all the election guff, I hear a gyrocopter went down in the scrub near Caboolture earlier today. On TV visuals it looked a bit like a yellow Magni. Believed to have been en route to Dalby.

Pilot taken to hospital, let's hope the news is positive - I've just read on an overseas forum that a pilot I know slightly is believed to have died in a crash this morning, not a good day.049_sad.gif.af5e5c0993af131d9c5bfe880fbbc2a0.gif

Pilot crashes gyrocopter near Brisbane

Updated: 10:22, Saturday August 21, 2010

A Queensland pilot has crashed his gyrocopter in bushland north of Brisbane.

The crash happened at 7.30am (AEST) on Saturday, north of Caboolture, near Beerburrum Road at Elimbah.

He was trying to make an emergency landing at the time, police say.

A police spokeswoman told AAP the pilot was the sole occupant of the aircraft and suffered cuts and suspected broken ribs.

An ambulance spokeswoman said paramedics were airlifting the 57-year-old man to the Royal Brisbane Hospital, in a stable condition.
