Deb Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 I am learning to fly in a Jabiru 120, and my husband and myself are rebuilding a Piper. We have our own strip and just waiting for some time to build our hanger on the farm. So to all those out there learning keep up the good work as it is worth it.
Gnarly Gnu Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Fantastic Deb..... sounds like you have an ideal set-up there too! (longing....)
facthunter Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 first Solo. Certainly a special experience, but it will be one among many because flying is like that. What sort of Piper are we rebuilding? Nev

blueshed Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Welcome Deb Well done on your "First Solo", many more to come! Keep having fun
Deb Posted August 26, 2010 Author Posted August 26, 2010 Certainly a special experience, but it will be one among many because flying is like that. What sort of Piper are we rebuilding? Nev Hi Nev, We are building a Piper PA-16 'Clipper' made in 1949. Will be a challenge but about half of it is done. It came from a deceased estate at a real bargain price with an lycoming engine which has only 6 hours on it since last overhaul. Looking forward to see it all back together and ready to fly. Deb
Skippy22 Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Hi Deb, My husband and I are learning on a Jab120 and are farming also. Intention to have our own aircraft based her on farm but the way season is going seems a long way off! Hanging in there for rain at present. Where is Wondai??
Tomo Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Hey Deb, welcome along. And congrats on your solo. Are you training in 5317? Take care of it won't you, I've done a lot of miles in her. Might catch up one day, I'm often flying about the area.
Deb Posted August 29, 2010 Author Posted August 29, 2010 Hi Tomo, Yes flying in J 120 5317, Have a great instructor who is very strict and makes sure nothing bad is going to happen to the plane. My first solo went really well, perfect takeoff and landing. I've had several instructors and he has been the best, he just loves flying and really takes care of whatever he flies.
