robinsm Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Can anyone tell me of the tip position of the thermocouple in the exhaust maifold of a 582 rotax will have an effect on the egt reading. ie. If it is to close to the side wall of the manifold will the temperature be lower than if it is in the centre of the exhaust chanel. (the distance of the thermocouple from the piston is as per factory spec). I haved had a long history of low egt readings (850 to 900 degrees). The motor does run well I recently flew another aircraft (618 rotax) and the egts were 1100 to 1150 degrees as specified Thanks Maynard
