Guest Guardian Aircraft Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 Let's get a big crowd... September is awesome for flying here. This is a large airstrip and is quite accessible. If there are people that are planning to drive up and wish to bring things for everyone we could sure use wood, games (footballs frisbees etc.), awnings... we would greatly appreciate the help. Prairie Store is providing food for the bbq as well as rooms and extra camping on their grass if you wish. They have a monthly pilots breakfast on the first Saturday of every month, stop in and say hi sometime it's well worth the trip. We will have the Raven there, hope to see the rest of you. Smith Prairie Airstrip Looking NE campground on strip Runway looking SW Canyon near airstrip
Deskpilot Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Gee that canyon looks like something out of MS Flightsim. Beaut photos but. Wonder how long it would take us to fly over in a Jabbie.
Guest Guardian Aircraft Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 I'd love for everyone to make it. though you might have a hard time finding enough islands to hop to hit the US mainland.. :D We have several events planned such as a STOL competition, Flour Bomb, etc... We have a full day on saturday for events and fly-outs to some of the other wonderful airstrips here in Idaho. I appreciate the compliments on the photos, I'll pass the compliments along to the guy who took them. Prairie is one of my absolute favorite places on earth. If i could find a way to live there, I would.
Deskpilot Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Nah, island hopping won't, have to go the long way visa vis; Northern Territory (Australia) Ashmore and Cartier Islands Timor Flores Sumbawa Bali Jawa (Java) Sumatera Malaysia Thailand Laos Vietnam China Russia Alaska Canada U.S. of A. or something like that. What a trip that would be. Who's coming?
Guest Guardian Aircraft Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Heh, you better start flying soon. it's only 11,000 miles.. cakewalk :D
Guest Guardian Aircraft Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 dunno that you could call it short.. heh, I just eyeballed the route through alaska and guestimated. Knowing pilots though, I'll probably see a small army of Aussies coming in on Saturday morning... Would make for an interesting tale for sure.
airangel Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 The Jab Wouldnt be the problem......The US coastguard would.
Guest Guardian Aircraft Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Due to unforeseen circumstances we have to cancel the Fly-in. Hopefully we will be able to reschedule down the line. Thanks for your interest, sorry for any inconvenience.
Deskpilot Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 No inconvenience for us Aussies mate. Sorry to hear though. Better luck next time.
