old man emu Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Here's a report from the US that might tickle the fancy of CASA. Seems that the FAA wants to obtain up-to-date data on the US air fleet. To do that, they are going to have aircraft registration certificates remain in force for only three years. At the end of that period, the registration can be renewed (for a fee), or the FAA will cancel it, and the aircraft is grounded. I can see pro's and con's in the idea, but the fear expressed by AOPA is that although the fee for re-registration is $5 at present, legislation has been passed which allows for a $135 initial registration fee, and a $45 fee for subsequent renewals. Now, $135 isn't all that much, and with teh size of the US air fleet, it would rake in a substantial sum. But if the idea was to take hold in Australia, can you see CASA accepting such a nominal sum? Guest ozzie Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 If anything positive it should mean they won't have to face 500 law enforement officers on landing. least there will be a 'up to date' owner base list. And gee they only get to do it every three years @ 15 bucks a year hardly gonna pay for the sticker.
facthunter Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Cost. That is why it wouldn't be $15. To get CASA to process anythng is about $100..... I'll bet a lot of taxes cost a large percentage of the amount, just to collect them. Nev
Yenn Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 Not so long ago Qld diver licences were low cost and lasted 10 years. To legally drive in Qld you have to be licenced. So what does the government do? Put up the cost and reduce the renewal period. Guaranteed money spinner. ASIC card is the same, why does it need to be 2 years only. Cards to allow you to enter work sites, another money spinner, and don't say they make work safer, I have failed at least 3 of those required exams and still been given the cards. They do provide a good money source though.

I remember when we didnt have a Shooters licence in Qld, then they bought one in.Supposed to be for life. Then they bought in the five yearly.Money Spinner Same as the construction industry, my first Blue card was in 1999.Then in 2004, everybody with a blue card (construction industry)has to a "new" one.Great for the people who make money out of it.New course same, BS, fork out $50 bucks. Then we had to do a NSW course because we work over the Border.NSW $90 waisted 7 hours of my life listening to the same BS, that i listen to in QLD.Then years later, "dont need a NSW construction card", QLD one is now recognized. In all states Blah blah. Governments are great at making revenue,
