Guest 4aplat Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Hi I was told that it could be a problem of temperature of the cylinders may be my engine runs too cold. Next Wednesday I will open and check the valve guides and take pictures MicheL
facthunter Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 jabiru Running too cold. Not very likely really. Every one I've looked at seems to be running hot, if it has a problem. There are some fairly cold places in australia, and apart from some starting consideratons, no problem with the cold. 4aplat, your plane is a fairly slow one. This could reduce the airflow over the motor. Re the valve guides, look up Alpha (UK). They make a lot of valves and guides for performance motorcycles and use some exotic coatings and valve guide materials. I don't know what to think about using SEALS on the valve stems in a high temperature situation. You should only get oil through the INLET valve guide as there is positrive pressure in the exhaust on average. The inlet valve guide can have a much closer fit than tha exhaust, also. Nev
Guest 4aplat Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 I've got a special "turbo cone" that helps colling the engine even on the ground the plane fly at 130 km/h and I've got the valves (from a VW golf (rabbit) 16s) I will make a new fly this week and I will note the EGT, CHT and oil temp MicheL
