Guest bendickson8990 Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 Hi everyone, I'm Kelly also new to this thread.I don't have any flying experience yet but am planning on some activities sometime. I'm looking for an alternative way to loose weight. Any ideas out there. I'm a 200 pounder and am ready to shed off those extra pounds which keep me unhealthy all the time. Have a blessed day to all!
Guest davidh10 Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 Kelly; I'd recommend "Weight Watchers". It isn't a diet. It is basically learning to eat nutritional healthy meals and the correct quantities. They allocate "points" to all foods, so you can easily calculate the right amount. Each person has a budget of the points per day to eat, which is based on your current weight and physical activity. There are several secrets:- Eating too little will prevent weight loss, because the body goes into "starvation mode" and hangs onto fat. This is the reason that the points system works so well. It is devised to be much easier than trying to count calories, but also ensures that you eat the right amount. There is a simple formula so that if the food isn't in the book, you can calculate the points from the food labelling (fat and kilojoule amounts). It takes time and discipline, because healthy weight loss is a gradual thing. Don't think it will be less than a year. People who use quick weight loss schemes almost always put it all back on again quite quickly, because they have "gone off the diet". You can eat anything, but remember the points. If you have a big serve of greasy sausages for breakfast you will likely have had your points for the day! There is some allowance for eating over the points "occasionally", such as for a special occasion. It is an education that teaches you to change your eating habits permanently. They have weekly meetings and incentives to attend every meeting. This provides both tips on diet as well as group encouragement toward you individual goal. They don't sell you pre-packaged meals, though they do have a few food products that they offer. IMO, they aren't really healthy, so stick with the system, not the offered food. They actually teach you the basics of good nutrition. All the best with your goals. * I have no association with Weight Watchers, so this isn't an advertisement, just a personal recommendation.
Guest bendickson8990 Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Thanks for this information you shared today David. It makes me realize that what I'm doing is all the wrong procedure of dieting thats why instead of loosing I'm gaining. Funny, right. I guess I'll start by choosing the right foods and exercising everyday. I would also love to be part of Weight Watchers, so if you could provide me with their contact info, I would really appreciate it. Cheers.
LimaMike08 Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Only 200 pounds. I'm 250, although being 6'3" helps spread it out. All I did was buy a plane with a bigger motor ;-)
Scooby Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Hey there Kelly, thanks for saying hi. It's great to see your interest in flying and i wish you well if you decide to join us all in the sky! Welcome here! Cheers, Scoob
Guest bendickson8990 Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Thank you all for the warm welcome. But as inexperience like me, I guess I should start attending classes or actual training. Actually the one that really interest me is sky diving like the one that I saw on film with Wesley Snipes as the main lead.I should start looking for books and places which could give me some insight. All the best guys..
Guest davidh10 Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 ...I would also love to be part of Weight Watchers, so if you could provide me with their contact info, I would really appreciate it.Cheers. I have no personal contact. All I'm doing is Googling... Weight Watchers Australia and New Zealand All the best with your journey and yes, exercise is part of the equation, but I'm not so sure that WW incorporate that. The exercise is up to you.
Scooby Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Sky diving hey? I started jumping out of planes 8 years ago and then made the switch to flying them. I think there are a few on here that have the same background. It's an awesome thing to do. I say go for it! All the best Kelly, Scoob
