dazza 38 Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 This is what Steve sent to me.Peter Currently I am not permitted to register ANY aircraft which is certified with a MTOW above 544Kg. So regretfully I will not be able to register your 150 until RA-Aus is given a substantial weight increase to 760Kg MTOW which will be at least 2020. So I suggest that you prepare your aircraft for operation and possible sale as VH registered. In addition in the past I was able to register only 2 models of 150 (mainly the straight tails), since the rest had an empty weight which was way too high. Is that when the head of CASA retires ?
poteroo Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Bill, The C150 had a swept tail from about the 1965 model thru to the M model in 1976/7. I agree - if you take a late 60's C150 with an EW of 480 kg - there's only enough weight for a 64 kg pilot - but no fuel - if you use 544 kg as the max allowable weight. Even using the GA max allowable of 727 kgs - there's not a lot of weight left after 160 kg of crew and some fuel. happy days,
Bill Hamilton Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Poteroo, That's interesting, I must have a look at Cessna history. I racked up a lot of hours instructing in C-15?? in the early/mid - 60's, my memory must be failing me - maybe I should dig out some of my old log books to see what I have as the types. We had a mixture of aeroplanes, some of the square tails (like my mate's) had the "pull" starter on the glareshield. Cheers, Bill H. PS after checking a few facts: You learn (or re-learn) something new every day. The swept tail was around since about 1966, the C-152 didn't appear until 1977, so all those hours I flew were all C-150.
