Guest rocketdriver Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Well I guess I’ll find out in about 10 days when the container with the two KR2 aeroplanes ( I’ve bought with a friend) arrives in Melbourne .... I am both excited :bounce:and apprehensive! i_dunno :see saw:I know I have a repaint job on one and a cockpit refurb on the other plus I’m sure there will be other things that need doing, but what? ...!!! If there are any KR2 flyers in Melbourne, I would appreciate a look at the aircraft and any advice from the owners would be welcomed! Regards Martin
Spin Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Hey Martin, I was wondering how the import process was going - please keep up the updates, I'm sure that I'm not the only one watching closely and forever recalculating the price in AUD of the latest Barnstormers aeroporn:laugh: Cheers Carl
Chird65 Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Martin, There are a few KR2 in the build stage but I don't know of any flying in Melbourne. I have sent an email to get a list (which I have lost) of all the Australian contacts. Most, if they are active receive the www.krnet.org email distribution, and any Aus only information is done through the contact list put together by Phillip Matheson in NSW. I'll get back to you when I can. Chris
Guest rocketdriver Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Hi Chris ... I'm a lurker on the KRnet list ..... perhaps I should break the ice and post something!
Guest rocketdriver Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Hi Carl .... Its a process of waiting at the moment .... hoping the a/c are ok, hoping they are undamaged in transit, hoping the promised paperwork is in the cockpit and hoping that a certificate of deregistrastion won't be too hard to get from Ottowa or wherever...... The easy bit is done. I'va paid for them, made transport arrangements to get them home after unloading, cleared a (big) space in my not very accessable garage/shed, made a framework on castors to hold the wings in storage and made two trolleys using 4 wheel skates I originally made for my sports / racing car. (Two off *(One off 8 castor skate at each end of a pair of steel poles, the skates positioned about 6 foot apart to fit onto a tandem trailer, the poles long enough to support the main wheels (about 8 foot from edge to edge.) = two trolleys if you get my drift .... Oh and I forgot, the most important bit of all. First I recieved permission and I've been working on raising the enthusiasm of she who must be obeyed. so far with moderate success .... she keeps asking where they are and how it is going ...must be good!!
Chird65 Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Hey RD, I lurk aswell, I have only posted once because of the rules, I don't have anything of value to add most of the time or someone else answers. As far as SWMBO, don't try to remove them. I did and now I no longer have a minister for war and finance but that is because the finance no longer exists. I'll stay grounded for a long time to come. Hope the move goes well and keep us posted on the outcome. When I hear I'll get that list.
Guest rocketdriver Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Hi chris .... Re removing a SWMBO ... been there, done that ....... a while ago now. Don't want to do it again, and don't envy anyone who is in the middle of it, but eventually it all panned out ok for me ....
planedriver Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Lemons are bit on the dear side at the moment anyway, but don't worry, i'm sure you'll be over the moon when they arrive. Accept the fact there there may be a few points that you'd have liked to have been a bit better, but if this is the case, you'll sort it out for sure, much to the envy of many of us here. Keep us posted, we're all very interested. Kind Regards Planey
Guest rocketdriver Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Hi chris ... RE grounded ... pm me sometime and we can go for a burl ..... a cost shared is a cost halved! Regards RD
Guest rocketdriver Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Hi Planey Thanks for your words of encouragement ...... I'm sure you are right about bits and pieces needing doing ...... and in fact the past owner has given me some of his wisdom regarding where he had been thinking of going with one of them at least ... Apparently there is a cooling issue for one, but I've seen this before in a tightly packaged road/racing car I designed / built, so I'm hoping that will be one of the easy ones to fix .... Regards Martin
