Russ Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 We are now another 3...4 mths down the track and nothing appears to have been resolved re this matter. Was wundering if i'de missed the outcome. ( recent hanger gossip has prompted this posting )
turboplanner Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 This can of worms is really getting a stink up isn't it.
winsor68 Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 They did replace the treasurer... no real explanation of why and still no word on the financials and what is in them. I am guessing that the recent secret meeting was something to do with this.
Gibbo Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands. Douglas Adams
winsor68 Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 no point guessing win...ask your representative member,,(who should be 'bubbbling over'' with interesting things that came from the meeting)...instead of waiting 2+ months for something to be mentioned in the mag! Done... just sent my rep an E-mail... awaiting reply. Now... why didn't I think of that?
Guest Maj Millard Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 The new NQ area rep Steve Runciman, is now also our new RAAus treasurer. Steve is an accountant for the Army, and an army major, plus trike pilot. I know him personally and he has promised that the financial matters will be openly aired under him, with at least a twice yearly financial report published in the magazine,as it should be. He is a man of his word, and I trust he will do as he says. He has taken over the treasurer position after challenging the efficiency of the previous treasurer, at the past AGM, which was also his first board meeting as NQ rep. He will do what needs to be done, and it will be in the memberships' interest..IMOP...................Maj...
Powerin Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Good on Steve R for stepping up to the plate. Does the RAAus treasurer's job have any recompense? If not I've got to hand it to them. To handle the books of a 10,000 member association is not a job I would do for nothing.
Admin Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Guys, there is/was no secret meeting...it was the normal February Board Meeting.
facthunter Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Steve Runciman has my confidence. Board members are NOT paid for their services. You directly elect them to the executive of YOUR organisation. Currently the board meetings are held every 6 months. This is the minumum required under the law, for organisations structured as the RAAus is. Nev
Bandit12 Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 .....but for a dynamic 10,000 member organisation with the current alleged accountability issues, I would have thought quarterly would have been essential minimum frequency..... Agreed - my local scout group struggles to run with less than monthly meetings, and our membership base/budget are considerably smaller....
facthunter Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 No-one argues with that David. There is a significant cost as all of Australia is covered by our membership, so you could be criticised either way. A "board" forum was used but did not prove to be a great success as misunderstandings arose. (as they do). Face to face is hard to beat, when you are communicating. Nev
