aiko Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 Hi guys I have just landed and love the website. I have recently gone for a spin with a friend of mine that has a helicopter and it has whet my appetite for flying. I am learning to fly as we speak. In particular I want to know what people reckon of this idea and I am very happy to receive both negative and positive feedback. My wife and I plan to live in tamworth but most of my business affairs would be based in Sydney and would require to be in the cbd most weeks for a number of days. I also will need to be in Melbourne and bris Vegas at times. Is it feasible to use say a jabiru 170 or 230 or the like as a mode of transport for this type of trip tam -SYD - or is it just a logistical nightmare and costly pipedream compared to jumping on the dash8 services of qantas
docjell Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 Hi Aiko - I agree with David wholeheartedly. If you're wanting business trip flying reliability think Command instrument rating in a GA twin as a minimum. Fair weather flying for pure pleasure is the way to go and a Jab 230 would be a perfect choice - leave Qantas to do the fretting! Have fun Cheers
foxy Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 hey aiko....welcome! hafta say i agree with david re:time consumption of commuting each week. Unless you have a few days before and after the times you need to be in the work areas, to account for weather not being on your side. Dont know if you've heard it yet, but there's a little saying that is used for navigation and whether or not to....."time to sapre? go by air" so in other words, if you have to be there, the same day you leave, etc....go the big boys!! just remember...dont rule out the 170 or 230 as a take-away option if you have the time up your sleeve......they were built to fly and fly they should..... liz
