bernardc
has any body had experience with non oem pistons in a 582 , ?
Guest Maj Millard
No experience with them, but frankly I wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pole. The originals are such a nice piece of gear, and not badly priced. I can't understand why you would bother with anything but OEM...............................Cheers Maj... facthunter
Non- OEM pistons. I would not recommend this. Some applications require a stronger piston, but these engines are not stressed to that level. I am thinking of "Forged" rather than cast. Totally unnecessary and would require different "clearances", as they have a larger coefficient of thermal expansion.. The originals are supplied in 2 classes for each nominal bore size. You should fit the correct one(s). I have to comment on the use of word "tolerance", frequently, when the correct term is clearance. If you are mucking about with these motors you should know the difference. The clearance your pistons have is critical to the reliability of your two-stroke.
