Grand prix sailplane racing

Did anyone see the sports program on saturday that had featured the grand prix sailplane race thru the mountains in Chile. This was amazing highspeed racing flying close to the mountain ridges in gaggles of 5 or mor gliders, more like formation flying.

 

There are plans to upscale the event with remote controlled cameras mounted on the airframes and in cockpit with highly colourful gliders, all beamed back via satellite.

 

Something to keep an eye out for next year.

It went for about 20 minutes. excellent footage. exciting close racing. looking forward to seeing more with the new colourful sponsered gliders.
