dlps73 Posted November 9, 2010 Author Posted November 9, 2010 You'll have to define suitable Heon, lately it's been suitable for ducks.....
flying dog Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Ha ha ha. What can I say? Quack? :) I hope to be there too.
Guest David C Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 What a good day today at Wedderburn . I'm not sure how many aircraft were on the deck , but I guess around 60-70 . Not all aircraft were what you could call "ultralights " , but quite a few were . There was a good variery of models at this popular and thriving airfield near Campbelltown NSW , on a very warm day . Somehow I always expect to see Slarti at these flyins and here he was again , he is a great ambassador to our movement and his Cheetah is becoming a very well recognised aeroplane . Also Just Fred from this forum was there as well . I just wish the operators of this airfield would make the open day a little more well advertised in the aviation media , and I'm sure then a much larger turn out would happen , but well done to all involved . Here are a few shots .. Mr Slartis Cheetah . A Super Petrel Amphibian A visiting Storm from Wollongong Surprise A37 , almost lands !!.. ( a big surprise visitor) Wedderburn "Airport " Slarti always promotes this site ... well done mate Dave C
PapaFox Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 Missed out on this again this year... crappy weather again
Guest David C Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 Missed out on this again this year... crappy weather again The storm clouds built up later on in the day , but appeared to stay unfortunately for you well to the South and SW of Wedderburn . I hope Slarti managed to reach Goulburn OK , the weather radar showed rain on his track home ... Better luck next time PF with the weather .. Dave C
HEON Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 First impression was the high percentage of tail wheel aircraft...some of them were just beautifully finished. We left around 1400 Sun as the weather did not look good for today. Stayed at Taree overnight and returned to Warwick today. Headwind added 2hr to the trip. Do not think we would have made it if we left Sydney today. Was nice to see how some of you southerners construct hangers...you will be set if the Hindenburg ever gets rebuilt!
Ultralights Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Sadly we didnt make it, brakes wore out and failed on the left hand side on friday, and have to wait a few days to get brake pads rebonded.
slartibartfast Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Well I had a lovely day. I thought I'd throw a few photos in too - for those who couldn't make it. Rob and Rachel, I wasn't the only one to miss you. Hope you get the brakes sorted soon. It was great to catch up with heaps of forumites too. I haven't seen Planey for so long I didn't even recognise him. Heon - it would have been good to say hi. I didn't realise you were there. Was that you playing duck on the pond? I was too slow getting the camera for a good shot. Yeah - no worries getting home thanks Dave. The in-flight radar helped, but just had to dodge some showers. Timed it beautifully getting into Goulburn. planedriver Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 so upset couldnt get there! would have loved to catch up with planey!will be there next year for sure! looks like a great turn out. Sorry you guys could'nt make it. It would have been no good trying, co's you'd probably touch down, hit the anchors and would have wound up at The Oaks after going bush. Sorry I did'nt manage to catch up with David C and say G'day. Thats a great shot of the A37 Dave. Good to catch up with Slarti although it was brief, as he was about to take an admirer for a spin in his lovely Cheetah. Here are a few pics I took. Rgds Planey
Guest airsick Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 It rained heavily all day in Canberra. Bonus. Actually it didn't. The Canberra Aero Club took part in the annual FunFlight event for the first time and we flew around 80 people that day. Few showers throughout the day but it didn't really set in until after 3pm when we had packed up. The event even made the news - Sorry to hijack the thread... Cheers, Mick.
deadstick Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Whats the aircraft in pic 11? Well I had a lovely day.I thought I'd throw a few photos in too - for those who couldn't make it. IanR Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 According to the register its a Falco F8L whatever that is !!
slartibartfast Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Actually it didn't. You calling my wife a liar? I suspect Tuggeranong was wetter than the airport. Whats the aircraft in pic 11? Yes - it's a Falco. Built and owned by Drew at Frog's Hollow. It's a beautiful machine, and very fast. I had it pass me on the way to Cowra once. Felt like I was the only one with a 70 knot headwind.
Guest airsick Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 You calling my wife a liar? Never, wouldn't be game. I suspect Tuggeranong was wetter than the airport. No doubt. We had a lot of showers pass to our south. Luckily...
