Tomo Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Good to see he's all good, gonna be an effort to get that outa there though!
Guest ozzie Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 I was driving down the F3 about that time yesterday and the weather was crap. heavy rain and low cloud all around that area. had to slow right down most of the way due to the poor vizibility. Not a good day for flying.
facthunter Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Outlanding. I suppose a good example of the better course of action, if the alternative was to fly in IMC when not rated. Better not to get there in the first place. Nev
motzartmerv Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 What on earth was a student doing out on a navex on a day like that.???. The mind boggles.
HEON Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Leaving why he was there in the first place, think he should receive credit on two fronts; 1. Landing when the desire to "push on" must have been great, 2. Getting it down without turning it over.
Guest Walter Buschor Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 I say "well done!" Give the guy his licence !
dazza 38 Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 I agree with CFI and another CFI (Mozt), im not a instructor, but i was wondering.Where is the duty of care, in the case ?
motzartmerv Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 Walter, casa can send him his lic in the same envelope as the suspension for his FI..
Guest burbles1 Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 ... that he was obviously putting his precautionary search and landing techniques into practice, and put down in very difficult conditions. It was an extremely valuable learning experience. (I'm speaking from experience of my first solo nav) ... that planning for weather was seemingly lacking.
Guest basscheffers Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 What on earth was a student doing out on a navex on a day like that.???. The mind boggles. Remember this is the press, don't jump to conclusions. The "student" pilot may as well have been a CPL student doing a hire and fly to add another two to his already 180 hours...
facthunter Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 And. The weather could have been quite OK around Sydney's west, too initially. Weather can change rapidly in that part of the world, and forecasts are not always accurate. I recall a planned trip to Aero Club of NSW with a group of Newcastle Aero Club pilots and I left first and was the only one who got to Bankstown, that day. The others would not have been 10 minutes behind leaving Rutherford. Nev
Guest ozzie Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Nice big photos in yesterdays Sydney Telegraph showing the lift and a bunch of locals pushing and pulling it up the beach. dewinged and put on a truck to Bankstown
