Guest aaronb Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 Well on the weekend i took my first flight in the Jabiru J160-C Out at lilydale (was damm hot!), great school and great bunch on instructors very friendly and helpful  . Having done some training in the LSA55 i can say the J160-C is great, excellent controls, electric flaps are a big plus, the the extra room is great! the only thing that took getting use to was the EFIS but im sure it will grow on me! Here she is!
maxamos Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Great to hear that you enjoyed your first fly in the J-160. Must be just about brand new which would be an added bonus. Who were you flying with out there, and how does the new RAA school seem ?? Regards Kirk
Admin Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Well done Aaron - a nice aircraft and great scenery - keep us up to date on how your going and what you're learning - I am sure it will help a lot of us.
Guest aaronb Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Kirk, The school is just the same but now is GA and RAA, good look it it and great bunch of people, and yes the plane is brand spanking new :) i also think there getting another one soon :)
Guest skydemon Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 Is the new RA school out there run by the mob from Tooradin? I heard they moved up there...
Guest aaronb Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 ummmmm not too sure, all i know is they have 1 new plane and i think another one on the way and there are 2 new instructors :P
Guest brentc Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 The school at Lilydale is operated by Roger and Jonathon Merridew (hope I spent the suname correctly). It is in no way connected to the Tooradin Flying School. There is J160 another on the way to Lilydale within around a month or so. There is a new CFI at Lilydale for RA-Aus that left another flying school and also a number of GA and RAA instructors at the school.
Guest aaronb Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 w00t! went solo in the J160 :P, traffic was light and the sock was dead, so i could not have picked a better day for it, did 4 or 5 laps with the instructor then he hopped out :P, all went well :)
slartibartfast Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 Congratulations shifty06. A major milestone and a time for pride in your achievement. Being up there alone for the first time is such a buzz. Ross
Ben Longden Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Its a day you will NEVER forget. When I did mine, Shepp Aero living treasure Frank P said he still remembers his first solo.. Ben
