Ultralights Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 Gday everyone, Tomorrow we are planning a trip to Wagga Wagga, and am after some local tips or advice for flying into, parking, and gettting in and out of the airport, if weather doesnt co-operate, we might have to stay overnight and find parking. Reading the ERSA has proven daunting, and actually doesnt mention anything in regards to GA parking, where you can park or access your aircraft. any advice on such matters would be fantastic.. Thanks in advance, Rob.
ahlocks Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 G'day Rob, Getting in is pretty easy. Good visibilty and no hidden traps. It's a discrete CTAF Freq. and local R/T procedure is usually good. The RPT will give a 30 mile call on CTAF, plus you'll hear them calling TOD on area freq. They'll usually be tracking for the 10 mile FAPs There's a few locusts about but not as bad as NatFly yet though. GA parking is a hard left turn off the end of the main taxiway (charlie). Park opposite the long yellow hanger and you'll be fine. There's a cable to tie down to there. Security is tight but not overbearing. Recommend heading over to Wagga Aircentre and make yourselves known to whoever is on the desk. They give you the heads up for getting access back airside and are the BP fuel resellers. Mobil is available via a swipe card bowser. What time you estimate getting there? Cheers!
Ultralights Posted December 16, 2010 Author Posted December 16, 2010 Thanks very much for that, we are aiming to get there by 10, we then have to get into town, so we have booked a hire car for the day. Now it's fingers crossed for better weather tomorrow!
motzartmerv Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 watch out for them locksmiths though. They are a strange bunch.
ahlocks Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 Shaddup you pair! You'll destroy my cunning plan.... :patch:
Admin Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 Might be a bit late now but if you get stuck in Wagga, contact Captain here on this site as he has a Motel there and some really great rates for pilots...not to mention Captain does a lot here in keeping us all informed by adding all the aviation events in the Calendar...thanks from all of us Cap't
Ultralights Posted December 16, 2010 Author Posted December 16, 2010 Sadly due to weather not co-operating this side of the ranges, we won't be able to make it today, sadly we had a deadline to get there by 10amand cloud here won't clear till that time.
Yenn Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 Better go soon. I see that CASA is going to turn Wagga int controlled airspace and is talking about bringing Class E airspace down to 700' If that is not a means of getting rid of RAAus I don't know what is. Why would it ever be necessary to have Class E down that low.
Ultralights Posted December 17, 2010 Author Posted December 17, 2010 looking at the current VNC, and ERSA, Wagga is still a CTAF with its own discreet frequency. in G airspace under class E with a LL of 8500. though the reasoning behind athe proposed airspace changes are beyond me. class E to 700 Ft.. seriously....
dunlopdangler Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 Hi Yenn...where is your info coming from??....Wagga was CTA years ago I bet you meant "CTAF®" cfi:stirring pot:
