Guest Fred Bear Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 Some happier news folks! Got the grim phone call that this had happened just as it was happening. Assumed the worst. Dave C and I were overhead this area at around the same time and did not see anything. However, heard Polair on Sydney Radar 124.550. Here is the story. Praise to the pilot! Two survive light plane crash-landing February 24, 2007 03:11pm Article from: AAP THE pilot of a light plane and his passenger have escaped injury when the aircraft crash-landed in a paddock in western Sydney. Emergency services were called to the field off Cowpasture Road near Hoxton Park Airport at about 12.20pm (AEDT) today after the plane came down. Civil Aviation Safety Authority spokesman Peter Gibson said the plane was flying from Bathurst, in the NSW central west, to Sydney's Bankstown Airport when it developed mechanical problems. Mr Gibson said that during an emergency landing the plane hit a tree and crash landed. Police said the pilot and passenger were uninjured, but were taken to hospital for checks.
Guest David C Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 News footage has shown the aircraft to be a Socata TB 10 registered as VH-BXJ and operated by Bankstown based operator Basair . Two very fortunate occupants ...
Guest Fred Bear Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 I did a scenic with Emma in this aircraft about 2 yrs back. Talk about lucky!
Guest jerabina Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Rumour has it, that this was a result of fuel exhaustion.
Admin Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 jerabina Just a little note (nothing intended) that in the forums here we try not to state rumours of an accident - facts yes, the pilot in question is not here to state what really happened so we like to give the pilot the benefit of any doubt until a formal report is released and then we can all learn from it
Guest Fred Bear Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 He did though in this case, exhausted one wing tank. Know someone that recovered the a/c and it is fact.
