There has been a fatal light aircraft accident near Mildura today at about 3:30pm...a Jabiru J230.

 

Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the pilot.

A Jabiru J230, with a Quick look just on the News,only walked in at the end of story, Look`s like nose in?

Yeh sad news, was at local airport this morning sorry for family

 

By the look of the local news he went in nose first and hard

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family............My Dad lives at Merbein where the Pilot was from......and I know of 6 x Jab230 pilots that live in my area Riverland SA.............I was realy worried

Have all the Jabiru pilots seen the December Airworthiness Directive? http://www.raa.asn.au/documents/airworthiness/index.html#jabiru

 

There is also a manufacturer's Safety Bulletin.

 

These effectively ground all applicable aircraft until the required inspection and possible remediation is performed. It relates to possible jamming of control surfaces.

 

I'm not making any connection, but I believe CASA is trying to get the message out and some owners are unaware of the directive.

 

My condolences to the family and friends affected by this tragic accident.
