Guest Craig Saxon Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Greetings all, I'm a (not current) level 2 gliding instructor who's looking at RAA , Ultralight, Homebuilt, etc, as a means of getting back into flying. I've been heavily involved in restoration of a couple of vintage gliders, ASK7 and shortwing Kookaburra, (GFA wood endorsement) but have always had a hankering for Biplanes and Amphibians. I'm looking at a number of amphibious plans and am toying with the idea of my own design, after a considerable and ongoing learning experience. I've had a look around this site but can't seem to find any threads describing the requirements for Homebuilt, RAA, Ultralight or LSA aircraft. Maybe someone can help. Has anyone done or seen a spreadsheet setting out the requirements of each category, (ie,MTOW, number of seats, Vs, Vmax, Vc, wing loading, etc), as this would be particularly useful. Also, what, if any, of my gliding experience would count towards my licencing in these categories? ie, what are the requirements for a licence in each category and would there be any dispensation for previous flying experience? I might post these questions in the student pilot section as well. Anyway, happy flying, Craig Central Coast NSW

Guest Crezzi Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 The RAAus www has the info on both the requirements & limitations of the various categories of aircraft and the dispensations you'll get for your gliding experience Cheers John
Guest Craig Saxon Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Thanks Dazza and John, Looks like a good site. Craig
