Pete-the-Pilot Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Hi All, This lot of photos is for those of you who are too young to have experienced this disaster and too those of you who remember and too any of you --- who like me went out every day and assisted in the relief operation, the joys of being in the Marine industry and owning a boat. Here are some nostalgic photos of "THE BIG FLOOD" of '74. http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/gallery-e6freon6-1225937772687 <<<< go this link to see all the photos. Two photos [803648 & 804565] are of the area now know as south Bank and that is where the service department used to be, in '74, under water and 2 foot of silt covered the floor after the waters receded, and it took months of very hard and dirty, smelly work to clean the place. --- YUK!! Photo 771514 is a dredge wedged under the Centenary bridge at Jindalee and if you wanted a beer at the regatta Hotel then you had to own a boat. Let's hope this doesn't ever happen again. Pete.
