Guest Wigg Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 this maybe of interest John was burning some old aviation charts yesterday. He put a chinagraph WAC chart into the fire & it immediatley combusted with flames about 1.5mtrs iin the air & extremely hot he jumped back as it was far to hot to be near it. It makes me wonder if these are safe in a plane crash situation or if they add to the problem if there is a fire.
Guest burbles1 Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Do you actually mean a chart with plastic contact adhesive on it, or a paper chart with chinagraph markings?
Guest Wigg Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 The ones you use the chinagraph pencils on , sorry.
Guest burbles1 Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Wouldn't it be great if people donated their old charts and ERSAs for some type of public displays to encourage new members? If we have open days and fly-ins where the public is invited, then colourful charts and out-of-date documents could be a drawcard and a conversation starter... They have drumMuster in the country and Yellow Pages bins at BP stations - why not have chartMuster?
FlyingVizsla Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Do you mean the cellosheen coated WACs that Airservices no longer supply? Might be why they no longer supply - someone pointed out how dangerous they were in a cockpit fire. Sue
