quentas Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 What a tragedy in QLD. I noticed a J200/400 floating in the floodwaters on nine news. Hoping the people surrounding are safe. What a nightmare!
XP503 Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Yep.....pretty sad. Lots of destruction everywhere, I am sure it is one of many aircraft affected.....
winsor68 Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 I wonder what percentage of Ra-Aus FTF's have been wiped out? I am guessing that is would be a considerable number.
Vorticity Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 The floating jab J400 belongs to the Lockyer valley flying club secretary. It would seem that a total of four club members lost aircraft in the hanger at grantham. The owner of the field made a dramatic escape and is ok. Insurance may cover some but when you have put 5 yes into a scratch built plane it must be heartbreaking:( There are two other field just west of grantham so the tally of lost aircraft could be a lot higher. Let's hope the owners are high and dry to build again.
compsci Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 U.S. pilots have been following the flood tragedy and can feel your pain of losing aircraft and other property to the flood waters. We are thinking of you and pray for dry weather. CompSci
Guest Maj Millard Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I recall that RELFY was in Towoomba recently . I was thinking of him when I saw that Jab in the water..................................Maj...
Spin Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 If I'm not mistaken member Escadrille lists Grantham as his strip and home as Toowoomba, hope all well there.
XP503 Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Does anyone know how the Gatton Airpark faired? And where abouts is the strip at Grantham? I can't find it on Google Earth.
fly_tornado Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 there is one strip south of helidon spa but I think thats emu gully
XP503 Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 and right beside emu gully there is another little private strip,
Relfy Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Fortunately Maj, not mine. Mine is sitting in the emergency evac point for the town emergency management plan so if it floats away then only the ark will save us. Through my sources I have heard stories of people going down to look at the water at T'ba and being swamped and swept away in an instant, with no warning. Very sad.
Guest Maj Millard Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Good to hear Relfy.........Cheers....................................................................................Maj...
