Sloper Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Goodaye all Does anybody know of a off the shelf aluminium wing tank that are available? 60-80lts 45*10*140 cm roughley Something that varied in depth from 15cm to 10cm would be ideal. l dont want to reinvent the wheel if l dont have too. regards Bruce
Guernsey Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Hi Sloper, you must have your reasons but why wouldn't you fit internal wing tanks? Gary Morgan makes them and can fit a fuel pump to transfer fuel to the main nose tank, you also would still be able to use the 'winglets' which improve performance and stability. Alan.
Sloper Posted February 3, 2011 Author Posted February 3, 2011 Sorry should have rephrased that internal wing tanks. l am trying to avoid fuel in the fuselauge. regards Bruce
Guernsey Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Then Gary can make you two seperate 50ltr internal wing tanks then you could do without the nose (fuselage) tank and use the area for extra luggage space. Regards Alan.
Sloper Posted February 3, 2011 Author Posted February 3, 2011 l can builkd them too but l am just checking options. regards Bruce
Guernsey Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Provided the luggage compartment structure is slightly heavier than an empty fuel tank plus reserve fuel the C of G would be no different to an almost empty tank with fuel in it. When I had my Piper Cub L4 restored it had a nose tank or optional wing tanks. Alan.
