Stewy Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Got the chance to take up my first pax last night. My 7 year old  The great big cheesy grin in his face when I slipped the headset on his head was worth every cent it cost me for the ticket:big_grin: Took him for a halve hour flight and he loved every minute of it, was bloody hard to hear the radio as he was asking that many questions but it was great fun having him in there with me. Must have enjoyed it as asked if he could go again tonight. Stewy

Spin Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Well done Stewy, a good way to pass on the baton. My father didn't fly, but grandfather and a few uncles did, so I got introduced to flying at about 4 or 5 and despite a few gaps, haven't been able to shake off the bug ever since. My son, then 9 was my first passenger after restarting with RAAus and I'm not sure who had the widest grin when we landed. We have shared a few special adventures since then and look forward to more to come, although I'm going to have to go GA for a while, because he has persuaded his mother that this flying lark is a good thing.
sfGnome Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Good on ya Stewy. My eldest loves it, my middle kid can take it or leave it, and my youngest won't go near the thing. Mind you, they're all adults...
Guest davidh10 Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Great news Stewy. With respect to the radio, I brief all my PAX that... "it is important that I listen to radio calls, so please try not to talk over them." I know that is easily forgotten at 7 years of age when excited, but you could perhaps explain what the calls mean and he may be interested enough to listen to them too.
dunlopdangler Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 I have a particular favorite memory of flying through amberley control zone dodging CBs busy talking to approach with vectors etc and my youngest son who was about four years old sitting in the back singing "How much is that doggie in the window" which he had learnt at kindy earlier, into the mic of his headset.....nothing much has changed, many years later he is still singing...now in his own band and this year lead in his high school's musical....
