Teckair Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 The Besler Steam Powered Airplane (1933) http://www.flixxy.com/besler-steam-airplane.htm
farri Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 Thanks Richard! How do you reckon the sound of the engine would have compared to the Chinook with the VW engine? Seriously though, I love the way the motor could turn clockwise and anticlockwise. I don`t know much about steam engines or if there are any being produced these days! Maybe someone can tell us more about them. Cheers, Frank.

I was surprised a steam engine could have the power to weight ratio to get an aircraft off the ground.Regards Richard.
Guernsey Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Nowadays it would be very expensive on fuel because the authorities would insist that you add ethanol to the water. lol.
Teckair Posted February 21, 2011 Author Posted February 21, 2011 Yeah and then there would be a steam tax, maybe $1.00 per cubic metre.
