Admin Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 1 March 2011 A Word from the Treasurer, RA-Aus Fees Having recently taken over as Treasurer one of my first tasks was to review the budget for 2010/2011. I visited the office in Canberra in mid January where I and a number of staff went through the budget. Whilst we remain in a good stable financial position we do have to make plans for upcoming activities, such as the planned improvements to the web-site, the new magazine etc. Taking everything into consideration it has been necessary to raise the membership fees and renewal charges which will take effect from 1 Mar 11. You will notice that the increases are slight and the membership fees and charges still represent extremely good value for money. In the table below you will see a list of all increases. I know that increases in fees and charges are always disappointing but they are necessary to ensure we keep abreast of the additional running costs to the organisation and we must ensure that we project correctly for all planned improvements and activities to ensure that they receive the correct funding. For these increases you can expect to see improvements to the web-site, a change to the magazine and there is also an increase to the members Public Liability Insurance from $5M to $10M included. When considering the increases you are also asked to bear in mind that there has not been an increase in membership fees for at least five years and it has been considerably longer since an increase in other charges has been imposed. NEW FEES AND CHARGES AS AT 1 MAR 11 A number of you have recently shown interest in viewing the financial status of the organisation. The board have discussed this and considered the best way to achieve this is to include an insert into the renewal paperwork. You can expect to start receiving this in the near future. Please rest assured that the board and staff continue to keep a tight reign on the finances to ensure that value for money is being obtained and we will only ever increase charges and fees when it is absolutely necessary. Kind Regards and Happy and Safe Flying to you all. Steve Runciman North Queensland Board Member, Treasurer

moz Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Thanks Steve Glad you mentioned changes to the magazine - can't say I get much out of it at present.........
FlyingVizsla Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 I got all our receipts out and did a spread from 1988 to 2010, but I posted it under "Democracy??" here: - http://www.recreationalflying.com/showthread.php/138332-Democracy?p=270771#post270771 I think it would have been better here. Basically the aircraft rego has not increased in 20 years (until 2011) but the membership has gone from $25 to $185 - I guess driven mainly by insurance costs. Sue
