Aluminium Suppliers

Aaagh Australia sucks, I am trying to find a supplier of 2"x2"x1/8" 2024 Aluminium Angle.

 

Aircraft Spruce has 2024 for $9.90 per foot.

 

Aircraft Metals quoted me $44 per foot for 6061, the same stuff on AS is $2.45 per foot.

 

Can anyone suggest a better supplier?

but don't expect it to come any cheaper.

 

If you need a heap of different types it is almost cheaper to fly to airventure and dig around the fly market. plenty of off cuts and full lengths cheap and then ship home along with all the other neat stuff you can buy their with the $'s you save.

 

And retailers wonder why we are now buying OS on line.

Try a company called Racetech http://www.racetechsteel.com.au/site/ also Action Aluminium they also sell 6061 T6 in bar and I think in angle as well. I get the bar for some CNC machining I do

I emailed racetech for some prices yesterday, no word back as of yet.

Try your local aluminium window manufacturer.They would be able to supply you with all different size angles in 3mm or 6mm thicknesses.I used to work in the aluminium window trade and we all stocked it.

Hope you are not using that cheese grade alloy to hold anything important onto the aircraft, jimmy.
