Guest aussie carl Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 Well the rotax is out of action in the foxbat so my training school cross hired a LSA55. All I can say is the LSA 55 was fun but it felt like a bucket with wings. Adverse yaw, stiff pedals and a stick banger on landing. Guess I have been spoilt in the FOXBAT and STING.
Guest Maj Millard Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 Always nice to get an experienced comparision aussie carl....Whats up with the Rotax ? ..........................................................Maj
Guest aussie carl Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 G'Day Maj. Not sure. She won't start. BFI thought it may have been the gearbox so that went to them last week. With that refitted she still wont start, It's like the ignition timing is out. I happen to be the Gunie pig it failed (wouldn't start) for a couple of weeks ago and boy wasen't that an experience. Clunking and banging during start, initaly we thought I may have flooded it but wish it was that simple.
stanzahero Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 The LSA 55 is short in respect to fuselage length so it can be a little twitchy. Once mastered though, it is a fun aircraft to fly - so I'm told...
Guest aussie carl Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Yep Jake Foxbat 7330, Go for a run in the LSA 55 it will make you appreciate the foxbat. Stan yes it was fun for sure as there was never a dull moment.
Chrism Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 I went the other way-Learnt on Jab 160 (I hear LSA 55's are even more tricky to fly) and now mostly fly Foxbats. The foxbat seems far more forgiving. For example, when I first converted, I found that if I made an error on final the Foxbat was very easy to correct and produce a stable approach whereas I felt I was always 'fighting' the Jab. The downside with that is I have to be wary the Foxbat doesn't make my complacent and lazy! Chris
Guest aussie carl Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 ..the Fox has an interesting approach to the stall... please tell us more
stanzahero Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 On an unrelated note is there an online database of all RAaus rego's? There is one for VH- registrations... Try the Left hand column at the front of the AU site here
