Neil_S Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 Hi guys, Hope to go to Temora, and was going to take a Netbook with me, but was wondering which USB modem would be best. So if any of you went last year and used one I would be interested to know a) which provider you used (Telstra, Optus, Virgin, Vodafone, 3 etc) b) how good was the reception c) would you recommend it Thanks in advance Neil
frank marriott Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 I was at Temora last year and Telstra connection worked fine. Can't comment about the other providers. Frank
Owi Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Hey mates, I had my iPhone with me last year. I use Optus and, if I remember rightly, I had no 3G reception while there. So, unless they've done some upgrading to their 3G coverage, Optus is a no-go at Temora Aerodrome. Maybe call one of the locals and ask them about 3G reception?
Bubbleboy Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Yup...my Optus was a no go but Telstra was fine. Scotty
Neil_S Posted March 27, 2011 Author Posted March 27, 2011 Thanks very much for your replies, guys. I guess the Telstra one gets it....Shame it's the most expensive! Cheers Neil

Neil_S Posted March 29, 2011 Author Posted March 29, 2011 Hi Storchy Neil! Good to hear from you. Yes - my old phone needed replacing anyway so I have decided to lash out some dosh & get a new one and a Telstra connection. Hope to see you there! Cheers Neil
PapaFox Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 I've got a NextG phone and also a USB modem. Both work out at the airfield, apart from inside the club house... still is a total black hole for phone coverage

Mathew Ker Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Living in Temora, the only carrier I would consider is Telstra. Not because I'm a great lover of Telstra or their plans, they are simply the only carrier that provides reasonable coverage in this area. Even this is pretty patchy once you are any distance out of town. (Pretty good coverage at 3,500' though!). Cheers, Mathew
