Hello Everybody,

Im new to the site and flying so I thought I better introduce myself. I started my first introductory flight last year (Around August from memory) and have completed 4 hours of dual flight in a Jabiru J170 at Barwon Heads. Love flying soooo much, it hooks people lol. I aspire to fly for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (long story inclusive of my father).

Unfortunatly now being in Year 12 and choosing the 'difficult' subjects (as some like to put it) means I havent been able to go flying for a few months now 049_sad.gif.af5e5c0993af131d9c5bfe880fbbc2a0.gif. Its a bit annoying having such large gaps as I forget so much, so ive kept at reading through my BAK book 063_coffee.gif.b574a6f834090bf3f27c51bb81b045cf.gif lol.

Anyway I look forward to talking with you all,

Alex

welcome!

if, by the difficult subjects you mean maths & physics, just remind yourself that you too can be a "brainiac" (in the words of my CFI) able to solve the density altitude equations in your head.

and all that maths and physics will make it trivial to pass the BAK.

Hey there!

I am in year 12 too haha. Still haven't even started flying lessons but I plan on it when the HSC is over.

What subjects do you do?

I'm in VCE (Vic), currently in Physics, I.T, English Mathematical Methods and Specialist Maths.

Ahh ok, I'm doing English, Adv Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Ancient+Extension History. I assume your level of maths would be similar to our extension..

Hi Alex and 098_welcome.gif.81ff07d492568199326e4f64f78d7bc6.gif!

Flying for the RFDS is certainly something worth achieving!

All the best to you! I hope you make it!

Frank.

I assume Specialist Maths = Extenstion Maths, depending on which state?

Thanks Frank, I hope I do. Its what ive always dreamt of becoming 003_cheezy_grin.gif.c5a94fc2937f61b556d8146a1bc97ef8.gif.

Top work Alex, the RFDS is an extremely rewarding job and all the pilots I talk to are fantastic people, who are more than accommodating in the air and on the ground. The 170 is a great training platform and will set you up well. Keep us posted of your progress.

Here's an old thread I put a couple of pics on of an RFDS mission and the type of strips they get in to.

Thanks for sharing the link Relfy, love all the pictures . Im assuming you work for the RFDS? If so do you mind me asking how and what you did to get there? Its really hard to find pilots who fly for the RFDS. Tried finding some at the recent Avalon Airshow to talk to, surprisingly I could only find doctors =S

Keep up the good work Foza. While long gaps in your flying will most likely prolong the inevitable it is worth all the hard work. I'm hoping to drop into Barwon Heads soon so we might have to catch up.
