Hi, recent been bitten by the flying bug and was interested in getting a RAA licence in a Sportstar. I live in Melbourne (near Point Cook) and looking for a good school that uses Sportstars. Can someone please help? From what I can gather the closest is Warnambool or Moorabin if i want a PPL. Thanks in advance. Paul

Just buy one and get someone to teach you in your own aircraft! :)

Alternatively, email the dealer, Peter Harlow, on [email protected] and ask him if he knows of any schools near you.

Hi Paul,

I live at Hoppers and got my RA-Aus licence at Penfield, which is at Sunbury, a lot closer than Warnambool. At Penfield you would learn in a Texan, which is somewhat similar to a Sportstar, so you could easily move to a Sportstar later if you wanted to. Something to consider anyway.

Cheers

Neil

Thanks guys. Texan looks like a nice aircraft. Will check out both schools and make a decision. Paul

You can try RVAC at Moorabin. They have 2 Sportstars there but since they are GA registered, the dual rate will be slightly more in costs than a RAA registered plane.

Thanks LEJ. Currently doing my RAA at Sunbury with Terry in the Texan and enjoying the whole process and the plane. Plenty of great LSA's on the market and the decision what to buy will be a difficult one.

I would suggest that you make a time with Peter Harlow,he is the distributor of the Sportstar here in Melbourne. Just google search sportstar in google and you will see him. On his foxbat website (he is also the distributor for the foxbat as well), there is a demo sportstar for sale.
